Displays, Social Events and Prizegiving
The club attends a variety of local shows each year to display members’ competition cars, recruit new club members and engage the public to become interested in motor sport.
These events are rather more impromptu than our competitive events, relying on opportunities as they arise, invitations and club members’ initiatives.
A recent innovation for the winter months has been the introduction of Breakfast Club meetings, held at the Warren Golf Club, Dawlish Warren, which regularly attracts club members and their families and members of other clubs. Al are welcome, and this is the ideal occasion to meet club members and officials, find out more about the club’s activities and join us!
At our annual AGM in March, the club presents a variety of annual awards for marshalling, contribution to the running of the club and those for the club’s hotly contested ‘Torbay Speed Championship’.
If members have a great idea, they will usually advertise it in the magazine or on the web-site in the members’ area and take on the organisation between them.
An unofficial and informal sub-group – MOCA (‘Mamhead Old Codgers Association’!) - arose from the working party at Mamhead hill climb in 2008 and is still going strong six years later.
MOCA hold a Christmas lunch every year and in recent times have visited the Morgan sports car company and aircraft museums. Despite the name, everyone is welcome – irrespective of age!
