Displays and Social Events
The club’s displays and social events are rather more impromptu than the competitive events, relying on opportunities, invitations and club members’ initiatives.
The club attends local shows to talk to the public, show members’ competition cars, recruit new members and engage the public to become interested in motor sport.
In 2012 and 2013 we have exhibited at the Exeter kit Car Show and its successor, the South-West Sports and Specialist Car Show, and have also staged a display in Paignton Town Centre.
Other events include pre-season test sessions, trips to museums and car collections, holidays to UK and European motorsport events and get-togethers after a hill climb or sprint.
If members have a great idea, they will usually advertise it in the magazine or on the web-site in the members’ area and take on the organisation between them.
An unofficial and informal sub-group – MOCA (‘Mamhead Old Codgers Association’!) - arose from the working party at Mamhead hill climb in 2008 and is still going strong six years later. MOCA hold a Christmas lunch every year and in recent times have visited the Morgan sports car company and aircraft museums. Despite the name, everyone is welcome – irrespective of age!
